Bryan Adams burst onto the music scene as Canada's answer to John Mellencamp, Bob Seger and Bruce Springsteen with his big break through in the US coming in the form of his 3rd album "Cuts Like A Knife." Although his biggest selling album would follow a year later in the form of 1984's "Reckless" for me it is "Cuts Like A Knife" that showcases Adams at his best.
Songs like "This Time," "Cuts Like A Knife" and "Straight From The Heart" went on to become radio hits as well as MTV favorites with the album eventually going platinum in the US and 3 times platinum in Canada.
28 years later and "Cuts Like A Knife" sounds as good today as it did "back in the summer of '83." 10 solid tracks on 1 perfect album.
So now the question remains... How does the Audio Fidelity Gold CD version sound?
Well to be honest... not that different from the original CD issue. In fact, to my naked ears I couldn't hear a difference at all!
I listened to both versions back to back in my car without adjusting the volume between CDs and for me... they both sound exactly the same.
The Audio Fidelity CDs are usually about twice as much as a normal CD and I can really only recommend this CD to people who don't own the original and even then only if you want to check out an Audio Fidelity title.
If you do own the original release of "Cuts Like A Knife" there is absolutely no need to upgrade to the Audio Fidelity version.
Drumroll please...
"Cuts Like A Knife" the album... 10 out of 10 drumsticks!!
"Cuts Like A Knife" the Audio Fidelity Gold CD... 5 out of 10 drumsticks!!
